When a Format Travels

One of the clearest signals that a format works is when it gets borrowed.

Our Thought Streams series was originally developed as a platform-native format designed to unlock authentic, unscripted moments from talent while subtly embedding franchise storytelling.

It resonated.

So much so that the Studio Synergy team adopted the format to support the launch of Zootopia 2, one of the company’s most anticipated theatrical releases.

Leveraging two breakout stars from Wizards Beyond Waverly Place, the format was reimagined for film marketing. On-camera games and conversational prompts centered around animals, character traits, and thematic parallels to the movie, allowing promotional messaging to feel organic rather than imposed.

This was a first for the team.

What began as a digital-native experiment evolved into a cross-franchise marketing tool, scaling from episodic content to tentpole IP.

The takeaway was simple: strong formats travel.

And when they do, they unlock new creative and commercial possibilities across the organization.
